Why consult an osteopath?


It is beneficial to consult an osteopath for your health problems or simply for prevention, the osteopath intervenes on the total level of your body, to the following spheres:  musculo-skeletal, visceral and cranial.  The osteopath finds blockings and tensions and takes care to restore the balance of your system.

How to know if it is a true graduate osteopath or a forgery, since the profession is not recognized?

The osteopath must initially be graduated D.O., and to be member of the Society of Osteopaths of Canada (S.O.C.). It is not because your insurance company refunds the expenses of the osteopathic treatment that this osteopath has an adequate training and diploma.

How long is the duration of a meeting?

The meeting of osteopathy varies according to the problem to treat and the condition of the person.  The treatment in general has an average duration of 45 to 60 minutes.  The amount of meetings also depend on the problems and the evolution of the state.

How does a meeting in osteopathy take place?

The first meeting consists of a detailed questionnaire that the osteopath with note in your file on your health and the problems that will after lead to the consult.  These essential questions will guide the osteopath to target the causes of the problem.

Thereafter, the osteopath examines by palpating the body which allows the osteopath to find the precise location of the blocking.  It is surprising to note that the source of the problem is not always localized at the same place as the pain.

What is the costs of an Osteopathic consultation/meeting?

The minimal cost of an osteopathic treatment given by a graduate osteopath (D.O.) is 60.00$ (that varies depending on the area).  There is tax exception on the osteopathic treatment as well as any other medical intervention.

Is the osteopathic treatment covered by private insurance?

The majority of the private insurance companies refund entirely or partly the osteopathic treatment carried out by an osteopath that is member of the S.O.C. The student members cannot emit receipts of osteopathy neither for the insurance companies, nor for the taxes.  On the other hand, if for a pre-graduate, make sure to ask the insurance company if they accept receipts.  All graduate osteopaths (D.O.) receipts are accepted for reports/ratios of taxes if you do not have a private insurance.  If your private insurance company does not cover 100% of the expenses of the treatment, the difference can be declared in your taxes.  We strongly recommend that you get the information from your insurance company.
